Study: Depression in Middle Age Linked to Dementia Later On

Startling statistics from a study featured on Time’s Healthland.

Middle-aged men and women suffering from depression may be more susceptible to dementia down the line, a recent study reports in the Archives of General Psychiatry.

Previous studies have linked depression in older adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, but it has never been clear which came first: was depression a risk factor for dementia or an early symptom?

Exactly what I thought. Wouldn’t you love to see a study that focuses on Bipolar depression/Bipolar and dementia? I haven’t had time yet to look for those. Do I really want to see the answer? LOL

seeing this study regarding depression. i want to say my sentiments exactly Sandy Sue. having bipolar & depression which goes along with it really leads to Dementia or Alzheimer’s. isn’t bipolar enough, we have to look forward to that too.
